Does your child experience challenges that do not affect most typical developing children? Occupational therapy services are designed to support a child and their family with daily life experiences, to include but not limited to: fine motor, gross motor, social/play, cognitive, visual motor, and self help skills.
If your child is sick with a fever or vomiting, they cannot resume therapy until symptoms are gone for 24 hours. If your child has the following; chicken pox, hand/foot/mouth disease, measles, strep throat, flu, lice or any other communicable disease they should stay home. Please call the office for any missed appointments.
All of the therapist at Capital City Therapy Group have graduated from an accredited college directly related to their field of expertise. They have also passed and hold an active South Carolina License in their specific field. All of our therapists have specialized training in various areas, which include but not limited to the following; Beckman Oral Motor, Talk-Tools Oral PlacementTherapy, Talk-Tools TOTs, IAOM Orofacial Myology, Positive Behavioral Intervention, PECS, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Sensory Integration.
We require all parents to fill out an intake packet with demographics, insurance information and pertinent information related to their child. Capital City Therapy Group, LLC must also have a valid doctor’s order for all evaluations and continuation of services for all new evaluations.
Once an evaluation is completed the therapist will determine the need for services. All services are based on the child’s individual needs. The therapist will contact a parent and the early interventionist (if the child is receiving early intervention services) to discuss the outcome from the evaluation and goals to address needs. Depending upon the child’s health insurance authorization maybe required before services can begin. The office staff will arrange with the parent a specific time for therapy services to take place.
Frequency of services are based on the child’s needs. Services can be weekly for a period of 30-60 minutes, twice weekly, biweekly or monthly. Frequency will be discussed with parent prior to scheduling therapy appointment.
The schedule is made in advance, and children are waiting for therapy services. We expect parents to keep schedule appointments, unless their child is sick. We feel attendance and parent involvement are the only way your child will make progress. If you must cancel, we expect you to call the office and reschedule. Please refer to the Attendance Policy in the intake packet
We are in-network with all Medicaid MCOs: TEFRA, Fee for Service, Absolute Total Care, Healthy Blue, WellCare, Molina and First Choice by Select Health of South Carolina. Please contact our office directly for inquires on private insurers and for all other payment-related questions.
We have been a BabyNet provider since 2011. If your child is under the age of 3 and qualifies for therapy services with Capital City Therapy Group, LLC but is not enrolled in BabyNet we can submit a referral along with our clinical reports on your behalf. We work closely with Early Interventionists and encourage them to observe therapy sessions.
